Who can leave a review

Anyone who has sold or purchased a property with an agent in the last 12 months can leave a review of their real estate agent on RateMyAgent.

To ensure reviews are current, RateMyAgent only accepts reviews for properties sold within the last 12 months.

When uploading an existing review, the agent must enter the name and email address of the person who has made the review. The existing review will be marked "unverified" until the person involved in the transaction approves it.

Why must you be directly involved in a transaction to review?

To maintain the validity of the content on RateMyAgent, reviews are only permitted from people directly involved in a property transaction with an agent.

This prevents anonymous unverified reviews, for example agents reviewing other agents.

At this stage RateMyAgent does not allow vendors who failed to sell a property to leave a review. This is due to issues around verifying the review by linking it to a sale transaction. We are working on ways to solve this problem and hope to add this feature at a future date.

Each review submitted to RateMyAgent is linked to the unique property transaction it relates to. So when you’re researching an agent you can be 100% sure you're reading verified comments from genuine customers.

FAQ

  • Who can leave a review?

Anyone who has sold or purchased a property with an agent in the last 12 months can leave a review of their real estate agent on RateMyAgent.

  • The existing review is labelled ‘unverified’ until the person involved in the transaction approves it. If for any reason you do not want your review to appear on RateMyAgent, Click here and our support team will be happy to help resolve this for you.

  • All reviews labelled ‘unverified’ do not count towards an agent’s rating, nor do they count when calculating Agent of the Year Award winners. So while you can read these ‘unverified’ reviews, they do not affect agent ratings - until they're verified.

It is up to the client to ‘verify’ the review, confirming it is a real review they gave the agent. The client is asked (via email) to confirm or reject the review.

  • To ensure reviews are current, RateMyAgent only accepts reviews for properties sold within the last 12 months.

  • RateMyAgent verify your identity via your name, mobile number and email address. Note - it’s important that your name matches your name as it appears on your contract of sale, as a copy of your contract of sale might be needed for further verification (see question 7 for reasons why you might need this extra stage of verification).

  • At this stage RateMyAgent does not allow vendors who were not involved in a property transaction to leave a review. This is due to issues around verifying the review by linking it to a sale transaction. We are working on ways to solve this problem and hope to add this feature at a future date.

  • If an agent disputes that you’re the genuine buyer or vendor, RateMyAgent will ask you to provide evidence (such as a scanned copy of the contract of sale) so that we can verify your identity.

The name on the scanned copy of the contract of sale must match the name you entered when you filled out your details to leave a review.
